GBARNGA, April 24 (LINA) -As part of preparations for the 2014 Annual School Census, the Ministry of Education and the Education Management Information Service (EMIS) have begun training over 300 school principals across Bong County.
The two-day training workshop, which kicked off Thursday, brings together principals from both private and public schools in the county.
Speaking to the Liberia News Agency Thursday, Bong County Education Officer, Mrs. Beatrice Kargay Saye Bonner, emphasized the need for participants to take advantage of the training to enable them effectively respond to questions that will arise at the end of the training.
She noted that information gathered during this training will also help to showcase government’s achievements and challenges in the education sector.
Mrs. Bonner said participants will discuss ‘How to Report on Government Assets’, ‘Student Enrollment and Number of Males and Females Enrolled Per Annum’, ‘Number of New Entrants and Dropout Students’ and ‘Number of Students Repeating Classes’, among others.
In 2012, the government started the decentralization of the Annual School Census, with the largest increase in coverage of public schools recorded in Montserrado and Margibi Counties.
Also, according to the 2013 Annual School Census report, Bong County recorded a total of 237 public schools.
The report further indicated an increase in the annual enrollment of students across the county.
