Early Childhood Education Campaign Kicks Off
By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, April 22 (LINA) -The Ministry of Education has launched the Early Childhood Education campaign in Monrovia and its environs to enlighten parents and guardians about sending their children to school in their early years.

According to the Assistant Minister for Early Child Learning Development at the Ministry of Education, Felicia Doe-Sumah, the campaign is intended to create awareness for parents and guardians to invest in their children's education from the age three.

Minister Doe-Sumah disclosed this in an interview with the Liberia News Agency Tuesday as the campaign teams embarked on the process of creating awareness at various marketplaces and other sites around Monrovia and its environs.

She observed that if parents and guardians abide by the policy of investing in their children at an early age, it would ensure that Liberia has a citizenry educated and prepared to move the nation forward.

She indicated that the campaign coincides with the National Week of the Young Child.

According to Madam Sumah, if the country has a population that is educationally prepared, it will ensure a safe environment and a prosperous nation.

The Assistant Education Minister pointed out that the campaign will also be launched across the country in early May 2014, and will cover villages and towns in the counties.

She expressed optimism that Liberia's education system will improve if government gives priority to the early childhood education.
