By David Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent
TUBMANBURG, April 21 (LINA) -The Bomi County Legislative Caucus has resolved to allot US$20,00 from the County and Social Development Funds each year to develop Tubmanburg City, the provincial capital of the county.
The decision, which takes effect this year, was reached based on a petition from 17 communities in Tubmanburg during the County Council Sitting in Klay District recently.
According to the Liberia News Agency, community leaders who signed the petition include Sumo Jallah, Vai Town Community, Komba Tamba, Stewart Camp Community, Peter Sampson, New Road Community and Moore E. James, Konnah Community, among others.
In their petition, the community leaders referred to the poor water and sanitation condition, deplorable major streets, as well as the damaged bridges and filth in the city.
The communities said priority should be given to Tubmanburg because it is the capital city of the county and hence needed serious attention.
Speaking during the Council Sitting, the Legislative Caucus chairman Senator Lahai Lasanna said the city will be treated extra in terms of the distribution of the county and social development funds.
He said, even though Tubmanburg is within the Senjeh District which received US$20,000 as its portion of the district development fund, there was a need to focus on the city because it is the capital of Bomi County.
Officials who attended the County Council Sitting were Representatives Gayah Karmorh, Haja Siryon and the Caucus Chairman Senator Lasanna as well as members of the county administration.
