By Wellington Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent
SANNIQUELLIE, April 15 (LINA) - A heavy storm has ripped through parts of Nimba County, leaving a trail of destruction in its path.
According to eyewitnesses from Ganta, Zoe Geh and Tappita districts, private homes were mostly affected.
No casualty has so far been reported from the weekend storm.
The storm also damaged the roofs of the agriculture warehouse at the Nimba County Community College and the Sanniquellie Public Market and the Nimba County Sports Stadium.
Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency Monday, the Field Officer of the Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) Nimba branch, Mary Anne Swope described as "extensive" the destruction wrecked by the storm.
She said Red Cross field agents are gathering data for publication as soon as possible.
In a press briefing, the youth leader of Sanniquellie Mah District, Saye K. Tokpah appealed to the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and the office of the county sport coordinator, Joseph Kollie, to ensure that the county sports pitch is promptly reconditioned.
Records show that terrific winds have caused devastation in the County every April since 2006.
