New Diabetes Testing Kit Arrives In Liberia
MONROVIA, April 15 (LINA) - The first consignment of a new diabetes testing device has arrived in the country from the United States of America.
Perfect 3, according to Mr. James Momoh, a former Liberian journalist, will be on the local market and made affordable and accessible to the people of Liberia.
Speaking to the Liberia News Agency from the United States, Momoh said the introduction of the diabetes diagnostic equipment will help create awareness for diabetes sufferers and also provide them the opportunity to control or manage their health condition.
He said diabetes has become a global medical condition and most often people with this medical condition are unaware until they get ill, adding, “with the introduction of this medical device it will alert users of their diabetes status in the comfort of their homes.”
The former Liberian journalist said introduction of the device will not be limited to Monrovia, but that he intends to bring the technology to every segment of the Liberian society.
Momoh said he is currently working on the modalities of ensuring that the device is registered and an office set up in the city of Monrovia.
He spoke of plans to provide an extensive diabetes education initiative in the country.
“People that will be benefitting from the product will also have the opportunity to site education on how the device functions and the need for life style changes which is key to the management of diabetes,” Momoh said.
“Diabetes is manageable and with the introduction of this medical device the lives of thousands of people who are suffering from this condition will certainly be safe,” said Momoh, adding, “Early detection is crucial to diabetes management.”
